Pipe Tobacco

Pipe tobacco comes in many different blends and flavors. Virginia, Burley, Cavendish and Spice (which can include varieties and blends of Oriental, Latakia, and Perique) are the most common tobaccos. Which tobacco you choose is very objective – what tastes good to one smoker might not necessarily taste good to another.

The top-selling pipe tobacco of all time is Captain Black’s. Beginning pipe smokers are sometimes counseled to begin with a sampler of mild aromatic tobaccos. But there is just as much advice against limiting yourself to the aromatics.

The best way to choose pipe tobacco is to just try it. Smelling it from a tin isn’t the same as smoking it either – once lit it will smell and taste different. Tobacco can be bought by brand, pre-made blend, or custom blended.
