Tobacco Grinders
Tobacco grinders aren’t electrically operated –
rather they have two interlocking pieces with long prongs that grind
the tobacco leaf when you spin the two pieces in opposite directions.
Repeated twisting of the canister will accomplish the grinding. This
optimizes the amount of vapor that a vaporizer is able to draw out of
the tobacco.
Tobacco grinders are not the same as coffee grinders, though plenty
of people try to use a blade grinder to grind tobacco. The results from
using the manually operated disc grinder are much more consistent. It
is definitely not a good idea to put tobacco in a burr grinder –
it’s too unstable as it is and the result would just be mush and
act as a clog to the grinder.
Tobacco grinders are usually made of wood or aluminum. Wood models are
often carved with a decorative element. Aluminum versions sometimes
come in bright colors or just the original silver.
